Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery (L&D) Charge Registered Nurse (RN) on the night shift is responsible for providing expert nursing care in the Family Birth Place, including Labor & Delivery, Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and postpartum care. This role involves couplet care for mothers and babies (32 weeks and up), managing approximately 80 deliveries per month. The Charge RN leads the night team, ensuring evidence-based, compassionate, and patient-centered care in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients and their newborns, including couplet care.
• Coordinate and manage patient care activities during night shifts as Charge RN.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including OR and PACU staff to ensure seamless patient care.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor fetal and maternal status, and intervene as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and hospital policies to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in call rotation and respond promptly to emergent situations.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions.
• Support and mentor nursing staff to promote a positive team environment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Colorado RN license or compact license to practice in Colorado, in good standing.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• STABLE certification.
• Minimum of 4 years nursing experience preferred, including Labor & Delivery experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills in L&D and related units.
• Leadership skills appropriate for Charge RN responsibilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with evidence-based care models in maternity settings.
• Prior experience in OR, PACU, or postpartum nursing.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires working 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends.
• Participation in call rotation approximately one 12-hour shift every 6 weeks, subject to change.
• Work environment includes Labor & Delivery, Operating Room, PACU, and postpartum units.
• Must be a team player committed to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts with a rotating weekend schedule.
• Call rotation typically involves one 12-hour shift approximately every six weeks.
